Acquisition of Empire Machinery
For the first time in its history, MANCON is making an acquisition of another business. Effective November 1st, 2008, MANCON is purchasing Empire Machinery & Supply. For those of you unfamiliar with Empire, they are a Norfolk, VA-based company with a 90+ year history of selling industrial supplies and products throughout Southeastern Virginia.
With our VDOT, Crane, and Super Servmart contracts, we have sold a number of industrial supplies to the Government, but have not had the personnel with in-depth knowledge of the products. Empire has the personnel knowledgeable of all the product lines, the agreements with manufacturers and distributors, and the sales staff and customer contacts in this line of business.

With the latest CDC reports the level of human exposure to West Nile Virus is at an all time
high. In Virginia alone, there were 959 cases of West Nile Virus!

In 2007, 27,444 cases of Lyme disease were reported yielding a national average of 9.1 cases
for every 100,000 persons. In the ten states where Lyme disease is most common,
the average was 34.7 cases for every 100,000 persons. *Against mosquitoes that
